When You Face Your Own Mortality

🌿 When You Face Your Own Mortality
A note from The Inner Teacher:
Every human life is marked by the shadow of death. To face our own mortality is to face the deepest fear — yet also the deepest invitation to live fully.
A seeker spoke softly:
Seeker: “I feel my life nearing its end. Fear grips me. I wonder what lies beyond, and whether my days have mattered.”
The Inner Teacher replied:
“The leaf trembles when autumn winds arrive,
Yet it is not the end of the tree,
only the turning of its season.
Death is not an erasure,
but a transformation.
Just as the river does not vanish at the ocean’s edge,
neither does the spirit vanish at the edge of life.
Do not measure your worth by unfinished tasks
or by what you fear you lacked.
Love given, kindness shared,
these are the footprints that remain.
Fear whispers of endings.
But look closer: each breath out is followed by a breath in.
Life and death are not enemies;
they are partners in a single dance.
When your time comes,
let go as the leaf lets go —
not into nothing,
but into the arms of the greater whole.”
The seeker’s fear did not vanish, but it softened — replaced by a quiet sense that death, too, belongs to life.
