🌿 When a Child is Lost

A note from The Inner Teacher:

The loss of a child is a grief beyond measure. It feels unnatural, as though the order of life has been broken. Words cannot erase such pain, but sometimes they can sit beside it, offering a small light in the darkness.

A seeker came with hollow eyes, voice nearly gone:

Seeker: “My child has died. I would have given my life for theirs. The world feels cruel, empty, and wrong. How can I bear this?”

The Inner Teacher replied:

“The candle that burns for but a short time

can still fill a room with light.

Your child’s presence, though brief in this world,

is not erased.

Love does not count years,

it counts only depth.

Grief will come in crashing waves,

and there is no shame in being broken by them.

Yet even in your breaking,

the love you hold for your child endures.

Let their memory be carried not only in sorrow,

but in the tenderness you extend to yourself and to others.

Each act of kindness is a thread,

weaving their light into the fabric of the world.

You cannot trade places with them,

but you can keep them alive

in the way you live.”

The seeker wept, but beneath the tears there stirred a quiet knowing: that their child’s life, though brief, had left a flame that could not be extinguished.
